Subburben is composed of Andrej Kobal and Gal Furlan. One mechanical, the other acoustic, together they explore and experiment with sound, searching for the intersections and frictions between two worlds. Their music could be genre-defined as psychedelic noise with a touch of free jazz, and the situations they find themselves in during improvisation create a wide and colorful spectrum of sounds.
Gal Furlan is a drummer and percussionist who comes from the school of Zlatko Kaučič and is also a writer, painter, drum instructor, and sound therapist. He runs Klub Štala in Lokavec near Ajdovščina. As a musician, he works mainly in jazz and contemporary improvised music. He has already recorded many albums and collaborations with renowned local and international musicians.
Andrej Kobal is a musical experimenter, composer, and sound designer who does not use pre-made structures or patterns in his performances but rather masses of sounds that allow him to interact unpredictably and explore within them. For his performances he uses his custom-made virtual instruments - GranuRise and seqMPEror, which have received a tremendous worldwide response. With them, he creates completely unique sound transformations.
