The video installations are the result of two performative actions conducted along a thin line of sight at the junction of the asphalt on the Slovenian and Italian sides, between Erjavčeva Street and San Gabriele Street. A very thin line divides two cities – Nova Gorica and Gorizia – two worlds, two cultures, so closely connected that they almost merge, yet so different and distant at the same time.
On the border line, the artist has chosen action - psychomagical action (in the sense of Jodorowsky) - to address the dissonance that still vibrates in the energetic fabric and memory of both cities. This dissonance carries the weight of the 20-year fascist occupation, the post-war events and this imaginary, yet also arbitrary, line that divides nations, families, ideologies and cultures.
What does the border line mean for cities like Nova Gorica and Gorizia?
Can a border be a flexible membrane, open to multiple contaminations?
Can it be a non-space, or perhaps a meeting place where different levels being and thinking can confront each other?
Is the border that divides the "two Goricas" a physical border, or an internal one?
